One of the most striking truths a person encounters in life is how unimportant they can be in the grand scheme of things. We are the centres of the universe in our eyes but life could not care less about our victories and failures, neither has any interest in our dreams and plans. The game is much bigger than each individual and feeling entitled can be a very dangerous thing.
With this realization, it starts making sense. Basically, no one is coming to solve your problems. If you continue on the way you are going, you will end up where you are heading. It is that simple. Most things left on their own will go from order to disorder. And so do the passive elements of the universe. Only active elements of the universe create, change and force their will upon its scheme of things.
The most powerful lines I remember about this are from The Shawshank Redemption, “Get busy living or get busy dying.” And “Remember Red, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.”
